Source: Russia, Ukraine, EU adjust gas talks’ statement
VIENNA, Jun 30 (PRIME) -- Russia, Ukraine and the European Commission are adjusting a joint statement which will be announced after the gas negotiations, a Russian delegation source told reporters on Tuesday.
Earlier a Ukrainian delegation source said that participants of the gas talks do not plan to sign any documents after the trilateral meeting as they have reached no agreements on any of the discussed issues.
The Russian government decided to grant Ukraine a discount of U.S. $40 per 1,000 cubic meters to the gas price in July–September making it $247.17.
On June 24, President Vladimir Putin said that Russia cannot offer Ukraine the same discount as before because of falling oil prices, but the price for Ukraine should not be higher than for neighboring countries such as Poland.
Ukraine wanted to adjust the discount Energy and Coal Minister ladimir Demchishin said, but Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said the Russian delegation to the talks does not plan to discuss the discount.
